I’ve always had a thing for audio, the power of speech and the universal stickiness of music.

Prior to entering the world of advertising, I was writing for a street press, managing a guitar store, playing in a band, and composing songs and short film scores. Once in adland, I needed an excuse to use all my gear. So, I started recording radio demos, casting myself and whoever else was keen in the creative department. That led to other VO work, and even writing and producing music to accompany TV spots.

Voiceovers

It’s always easier to sell in a radio/audio concept if you have a demo to play. Here’s a few, including some that ran ‘as is’ with me as the VO.

Capi: Toilet Ratio
Singstar: Rock Doc
Twenty20 Cricket: Parking Inspector
Lotto : Luxury Ride
NZ Cricket: H.E.B (demo)
The Warehouse: Witches (demo)

PODCASTS

Apart from over-indexing on true crime, movies and news, I’ve hosted Created for Creatives, a podcast series from the London International Awards.

AI

I’m an avid explorer of AI visual tools, but I’ve gone deeper into the audio and speech areas.

My interest really took hold after curating an AI-focused exhibition at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum.
The highlight was putting on a radio play that was written live by AI, co-starred an AI-voiced character, had a soundscape composed by AI, and the play’s artwork created by AI. All done in real-time in front of a few hundred people.

Currently, I’m co-producing and writing a podcast series featuring AI in the production and storyline.
